Our Story

Lakeside Church began with a simple desire and a faithful step of obedience. In the early 1990s, a group of lake residents gathered on their docks to pray for a Baptist church at Lake Oconee, asking God to plant a Gospel-centered community in this area. In 1991, Lakeside began meeting at its current location, and volunteers from across the country helped build the original worship center. What started as dockside prayers became a place where lives have been changed, families strengthened, and the truth of God’s Word faithfully proclaimed. From the very beginning, this has been His church.

Over the years, Lakeside has continued to grow and serve the lake area and surrounding communities. In 2025, we opened a new worship center, not simply to expand a building, but to make room for more people to encounter Jesus. Today, we still carry the same heart that started on those docks: to be a bridge to our community and beyond, helping people move from where they are to where God wants them to be.
